in what has become an annual event, Pete Sheridan and Jennifer Klich visited Annunciation to talk about practical engineering principles and stewardship of natural resources. The students completed a hands on project to create water filters to better understand the steps of water filtration.
December 8, 2015 Joint Luncheon
Mike Brost and Brian Roche, both of JEA, gave updates to JEA's work plan for Water, and Electric systems. The joint luncheon was hosted by FES, ASCE and IEEE and was held at Latitude 360. in Jacksonville, FL.
September 23, 2015 UF Resume Review
Members from the NEFL chapter attended the resume review hosted at the University of North Florida. Students were able to sit with a professional volunteer and discuss their goals and resumes prior to an upcoming career fair to be held on campus.
September 22, 2015 Joint Luncheon
Jeff Sheffield, executive director of the Transportation Planning Office shared long range planning initiatives at the September joint luncheon. The joint luncheon was hosted by FES, ASCE and IEEE and was held at Latitude 360. in Jacksonville, FL.
July 23, 2015 ASCE/EWB Bowling Tournament
Each year in July, ASCE and Engineers Without Borders host a bowling tournament to benefit the scholarship program and the clean water project in Nahuaterique, Honduras. This year, many FES members were in attendance to support this fun and worthwhile event.
February 12, 2015 - K12 Presentation
Jennifer Klich. PE of our FES chapter and four students from the UNF steel bridge team attended the STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) fair at Crystal Springs Elementary. Students were able to get hands on experience building gumdrop/toothpick structures and block towers and were able to meet the makers of the steel bridge.
June 5, 2015 - Annual Dinner and Officer Installation
The Annual Dinner is held annually to celebrate each year of our chapter and to induct the new FES officers. This year the Annual Dinner was held at UNF in June. Alan Douglas, the executive director of FES, attended and Laureen Borochanner of the USACE spoke about the Portugues Dam in Ponce Puerto Rico. Clay Tappan, president elect installed the new officers. The chapter also presented Rachel Back with a president's award for her service to MATHCOUNTS.
